HEY! Hear Exmoor Youth @ Riverside YC

The HEY! Group holds regular meetings, and discuss current issues affecting young people in the community. They work with other community agencies to keep services going, and to feedback issues and concerns. They regularly attend management meetings, Town Council meetings, and have a responsibility for securing community support and building a positive image of young people. They attend all manner of community events where they give their time to volunteer and help out.

Our youth action group HEY! (Hear Exmoor Youth)provides a direct link between young people and the wider community. The members work hard to dispel negative stereotyping of young people by getting involved in community fundraising and events.They are also instrumental in feeding back information from the wider membership in order to ensure that DDYPP as an organisation provides the sessions, activities and services that young people need.

There has been a higher level of community support for the youth centre due to direct action from members of the HEY! Group speaking out at public meetings and the media in order to secure future services for young people in Dulverton and surrounding areas. This has encouraged community cohesion, greater understanding of young peoples needs, and a great flavour of intergenerational ventures where age gaps do not matter where the common aim is to make the community a better place for all.
