NICKY TURNER’S SCHOOLS OF TAE KWON DO

WHAT IS TAEKWONDO?

It is an ancient form of unarmed combat and self defence, involving skilled application of punches, kicks and blocks, for rapid destruction of an opponent.

It is also implies a way of thinking and spiritual discipline.

TAE – means to jump, smash or kick with the foot
KWON – means to punch or destroy with the fist
DO – is the art or the way.

FOUNDATION OF TAEKWONDO

Taekwondo was inaugurated on 11th April 1955 by the founder Major General Choi Hong Hi, 9th dan.

It was brought to this country by Master Rhee Ke Ha, 8th dan O.C.M

Master Dew opened the first TKD school in the South West on 1st Feb 1975.

The TAGB was formed in 1983.

The TAGB founded Taekwondo International on 13th November in 1993.

The British Taekwondo Council was formed in April 1988, which is the governing body for Taekwondo in this country and is supported by the Sports Council.

Juniors 6-7pm, Adults 7-8.30pm

Sundays- Chilton Trinity Sports Centre, Chilton St

Juniors 10-11am, Adults 11-12.30pm.

GLASTONBURY

Tuesdays- St Dunstans, Wells Rd

All grades 7-8pm.

Fridays- Juniors 6-7pm, Adults & Senior Grades 7-8:30pm
