Leaving Care Group

The Leaving Care Group in Sedgemoor is a joint undertaking between Somerset Social Services in partnership with Somerset Count Youth Service - Sedgemoor Area Youth Work Team

Aim:

To provide regular "safe space" for those in or leaving care; providing opportunities for social interaction, skill development, peer support and sharing of individual experiences within a fun and informal environment.

Objectives:

Through involvement in the programme participants will:

  • Learn
  • Take part in new activities
  • Participate in informal educational opportunities
  • Achieve and have the opportunitiy to have those achievements recognised
  • Take part in personal development opportunities
  • Develop new skills (particularly in lifeskills and independant living)
  • Work with issues around being in and leaving care
  • Build positive coping strategies
  • Have Fun!

Referals to join the group are currently through Social Services Leaving Care Team
